Nothing much to say as you can imagine…..something Amari. Opened late in 2004, this was the first hotel chain coming to Koh Chang. For the facilities, it is all set here swimming pool, restaurant, spa and so on. If you are looking for something at standard of hotels, do not hesitate to take Amari. On the contrary, all the types of accommodations are low-rise building.
The pool is huge-Olympic size-but when considering that hotels run at 80 percent occupancy, 267.2 guests are to be at pool side and on the beach. They should have 2 swimming pool in actuality. I still remembered, after TSUNAMI in late 2004, all Tour Operators and travel agencies had move guests from southern parts of Thailand to Pattaya, Koh Samui, Hua Hin and Koh Chang. What happened is when I went to Koh Chang at that time, “Can you imagine 350-400 people at the beachfront?” it was real packed.
Anyway, I accept that Amari is still one of the leading hotels at Koh Chang in term of facilities and at standard service. But please bear in mind that you can not find something tropical here. No resort feeling or touch here!!! Amari locates almost at the south end of Klong Prao beach.
There are some tips if you are to stay at the Amari and do not want to enjoy the pricey food there. Three choices available here for you: 1 walk south to Magic Resort or Chokdee Resort, they cook quite good Thai food. 2. Walk north along the beach to blue lagoon (small resort with cooking school) or Koh Chang Tropicana 3. Take local caps to White Sand beach……….. One thing to be mentioned, if you are bars lover, there are some on Kai Bae beach which is 15 mins walk from Amari but watch out as the road from Amari to Kai Bae is quite narrow. To sum up, nothing much special here but for your comforts, take it as one of your choices.
