Guide to North West

North West is like the gateway of all visitors as the piers are here at Dan Kao Pier and Ao Supparod Pier. Most of sandy beach on Koh Chang are of the north and the west. That's why travel attraction, civilization, community and official are on North West. Accommodation and convenience are available on the main road especially at White Sand Beach (Had Sai Kao).

If you do not drive your private car, there is no problem. There are Songthaew taxis (white buses) serve you to anywhere you want to go. Although the road on Koh Chang is well – built, the way is not for sight-seeing. The road is not next to the beach. The bungalows and resorts are built on the beach instead. However, on White Sand Beach there is several public ways from the main road to the beach

Ao Saparos is the starting point for all visitors. Their journey on Koh Chang starts here. Due to the pier site, steep road and mountain side, there are few other services. A resort and several famous restaurants are around the Ao Thammachart pier.

Klongson Beach at the northern tip of Koh Chang is the first beach on the right after you disembark at the ferry pier. The half-moon beach, or bay to be more precise, is scenic with a cape and a long stretch of sandy beach with lots of coconut trees.

• SERVICES : Klong Son may not be suitable for some travelers because of no bank, police or postal service. It seems like a local community more than a tourism site.
• SHOPPING : a local market and grocery are the most convenient to buy things. However, a 7-eleven shop opens near the community.
• ENTERTAINMENT : Local karaoke in restaurants is a choice that you can enjoy. Or else, elephant trekking at Baan Kwan Chang (Elephant camp) is an adventure activity.
• RESTAURANTS : It is easy to find a local Thai food that is cooked by the villagers.
• ACCOMMODATION : There are three resorts - a well-known Aiyapura Resort and Spa, Koh Chang Grand Orchid Resort and Spa and Koh Chang Riverside Hotel. The first two resorts are private while the other is among the local community.

White Sand Beach (Had Sai Khao) is a long strip with powdery sand that slopes gently into the sea. The beachfront becomes much wider during low tide and consequently attracts lots of beachgoers. Located on the northernmost of the beach is the White Sand Beach Resort which has 104 bungalows, some of them less than 10 steps from the beach. The stretch of peaceful beach in front of this resort is 680-metre long. Most of convenient and official service are located here as the main tourism site

• SERVICES: The busiest section on Koh Chang, White Sand Beach is full of bungalows and resorts which offer basic amenities combining peace and comfort for the visiting tourist. Along the main road are various shops, bars, pubs, restaurants, tour operators, vehicle rentals, mini-marts, a police kiosk, foreign exchange counters and ATMs and a shopping plaza. Four full-service banks in the area are the Siam Commercial Bank (SCB Exchange Booth) at the entrance of the White Sand Plaza and Sub Branch at V.J. Plaza (Laem Chaichet), Bank of Ayudhya , Thai Military Bank (both near Cookies Hotel) and Siam City Bank opposite Alina Resort.
  
  Also located here is the Koh Chang International Clinic, under the supervision of the Bangkok - Trat Hospital . The clinic is equipped with ambulances and helicopter emergency services. English-speaking doctors are available.
  
• SHOPPING: White Sand Beach is the most convenient area for dwellers. Everything you need, you can find. These years some shopping plazas have dotted in many area of White Sand Beach Road . A shopping plaza consists of restaurant, mini-mart, pharmacy, tailor, internet service, souvenir shop, swimming suit & clothe shop, tour counter, massage, bike rental and so on.
• ENTERTAINMENT: There is no doubt that a great choices of entertainment ready here. In daytime you can rent a kayak or take a massage course or sunbath on the beach. Or go to internet & coffee shops around there. Then after dark a lot of bars and restaurants open both along the road and the beach that you can walk along and enjoy.
• RESTAURANTS: Whatever kind of food you prefer, here there are – International, Indian, Seafood, Thai, Italian, French etc. The prices are reasonable. Seafood BBQ on the beach is the popular choice that mostly is offered by the resorts on the beach. Service hour is from the late afternoon until 10.00 pm.
• BARS: Sabay Bar is the most popular on the island for its live band and fire dance show (Show time is 9.00 pm & 11.00 pm ). The customers can enjoy the night beach on mattress in front of the bar while drinking a cocktail. KC Bar is well-known one but no live band here. And many more bars on the street and on the beach color the night at White Sand Beach.
• ACCOMMODATION: A wide variety of accommodation on White Sand Beach ranges from the basic thatched-roof huts to the luxurious units with air-con, fridge, hot water and TV. One thing that you have to accept is that to stay at White Sand Beach is quite crowded and noisy. Therefore, if you wish to escape for your holiday, you should go to the other beaches.

Laem Chaichet, which nestles between White Sand and Klong Prao beach is an ideal spot for onshore fishing or to watch the sunset. The fishing pier near Laem (cape) Chaichet also serves as a perfect viewpoint for the entire Klong Prao Bay. 10 Km away from Dan Kao pier, on your right hand with a sign broad.

Laem Chaichet is a nice sunset viewpoint on Klongprao beach. From here you can see the spacious view of Klongprao beach. A kayak and boat rental is available as here is a port for snorkeling to the around islands. Fishing is recommended since there are a lot of fish and the view is wonderful for the fisher. Coconut Beach Resort and Chaichet Bungalow are located on this site.
