Guide to North East

Having landed on Koh Chang (Dan Kao pier or Ao Thammachat pier), you can turn left along the concrete main road to the West land. On this site of the island there are only few resorts and bus service because the east is the real local villages. If you prefer to witness the folk living and fruit plantation, to ride a motorbike is a better way.

The beach on the West is not blessed for swimming or water-sport as for its soil sand, clay beach or rock. Therefore, the government offices, national park office, hospitals, villages, temples and schools are located here.

The ferries from Center Point pier and Laem Ngob pier land at Dan Kao pier where Songthaew taxis park to pick up all visitors. There is no service or accommodation at Dan Kao. You have to choose your direction; turn left to the East or turn right to the West.

Tarnmayom is the first beach on the East. Due to no sandy beach, only few small bungalows are built. The road is barred on the seaside to prevent the car falling into the rock sea. However, the East is blessed with the unseen nature; also the native living could be witnessed.

• SERVICES: The native of Koh Chang mostly dwells on the East; therefore primary services – Koh Chang hospital, Koh Chang police station, Natural Park Office, Sub-District Office and petrol station – are located at Baan Tarnmayom to be convenient for the local in the East. Surely service level is localized, different from the other side.
• SHOPPING: No convenient stores but only several local groceries are found on the way. If you visit Baan Tarnmayom, you should bring water, food and all necessary yourself. Or if you stay at a resort in this area, you may have to drive to Salakkok or Klongson to buy your need.
• ENTERTAINMENT: Fortunately, there are attractions for nature explorers. Tarnmayom waterfall is a famous waterfall o Koh Chang. The waterfall is a 9-km away from Dan Kao pier. It is near Natural Park Service Center . Turn right from the road for 200 m. from the entrance, walk for 500 m. passing the villager's fruit plantation to the 4-level waterfall. On the way you could also enjoy buying the fresh fruit such as durian, rambutan and banana.
• RESTAURANTS: The restaurants can be found in the bungalows or on the road, of which cooked by the local. There is no seafood restaurant yet, the well-known and big seafood restaurant is on the tip of the South.
• BARS: Undoubtedly, there is no bar on this beach. The traveler must go to White Sand Beach for their night lift.
• ACCOMMODATION: The easily-built bungalows face to the sea but swimming is not allowed due to the rock shore of Tarnmayom . However, the bungalows are absolutely suitable for the peace seekers. No noise, no crowd, no entertainment, only the sea and your down-to-earth accommodation.
