Viewpoint & Temple

  Viewpoint

These offer wonderful views over the individual beaches, bays and adjacent islands. The southernmost viewpoint of Koh Chang is situated a kilometer west of Baan Bang Bao. In contrary to the all other viewpoints, it is not raised, but is directly by the sea. The whole of Bang Bao Bay can be seen in one direction and Bang Bao Beach in the other. The second is situated approximately 8 kilometers north, is raised and directly by the road, just after passing Lonely Beach. Here you can see the whole of Bai Lan Bay including Haad Thanam.

The next viewpoint is at Kai Bae Beach, 1 kilometer before the village, also located up on the mountain. It offers a fantastic view to the islands Koh Yuak, Koh Pli, Koh Man Nok and Koh Man Nai. The fourth viewpoint about 50 meters further on directly at the entrance to Seaview Resort and Spa. It offers a fantastic view over the complete northern part of the west coast up to the mountains behind White Sand Beach. One of the "unofficial" viewpoints is located in the south of Klong Prao Beach. At the sharp bend of the road turn to Chok Dee Resort. It is situated at the end of the stone beach.

You can see the whole Klong Prao Beach. The next one is also by the road, approximately 600 meters behind White Sand Beach, after the road turns in a right curve up into the mountain. All of Haad Sai Kao and the southern mountains can be seen from here. The northernmost viewpoint on Koh Chang is on the road between White Sand Beach and Baan Klong Son, halfway down the mountain towards Klong Son Bay. Ao Klong Son and Sapparod Bay are visible, and with a little luck, if the weather is clear, the view is good enough to see the mainland. The last of the viewpoints is near Baan Salak Phet in the south of Koh Chang. It is situated between the 1st and 2nd levels of the Kiri Phet Waterfall and offers a breath-taking view over Salak Phet Bay.

  Lake

The only one but truly virgin and scenic lake is at the east side of the island in the arm of Salakkok Bay. The lake is a part of the largest mangrove forest of Koh Chang. Chang Spirit Salakkok Station is located at the forest providing the information and the tour for travelers. You can sail a kayak for the forest sightseeing

  Bang Bao Bay

Bang Bao Bay is a well protected bay at the southwest end of Koh Chang. The quaint fishing village Baan Bang Bao is built on stakes far out into the bay and has become quite a popular attraction. Many seafood restaurants offer a rich selection of fresh seafood and small shops sell souvenirs or refreshments. Bang Bao Bay has lately become a resort and recreation area with bungalows built on selected scenic sites. The beach at Bang Bao has clear waters with rocks and corals off its shores. A good place to fish, snorkel and swim.

 Temple

Descriptions about the journeys to all temples (Wat) on Koh Chang follow:

Wat Bang Bao is direct by the road, just beside the turn-off to Baan Bang Bao.

Wat Klongprao is located in Baan Khlong Prao, also directly off the main road.

Wat Klong Son is approximately 500 meters from the intersection in Baan Klong Son, in the direction of the bay. At the top of the hill after Sapparod Bay towards Baan Klong Son you can find a Chinese temple.

Wat Klong Nonsi is situated just before the Dan Mai Pier in Baan Klong Nonsi. Turn towards the sea at the intersection on the main road.

A further wat is in Baan Salak Phet, directly by the road. Beside this one however, a new, larger and more beautiful temple is under construction. (While visiting, proper clothes should be worn!)
